Isn't it too late to meditate?

Question from a participant: - Isn't it too late to meditate? Shouldn't this happen at a very early age? Because so far, what has been learned is very difficult to unlearn.

My response was that what we learn in meditation is unlearning by acknowledging and letting go of whatever arises in the mind and body. So we are changing the tendency of the mind from reacting to observing. Isn't this an unlearning process? Even off the cushion, if we can closely watch how our mind reacts to everything from the space of knowing and experience, become aware and let go, then unlearning process begins. The unlearning process for me is becoming less and less reactive, pausing more and more, and seeing what comes up.
